Wind Speed Alarm
Maximum’s Dual Set-Point Wind Speed Alarms are used to measure and display wind speed from 0 to 99 MPH, km/h or Knots. Wind Speed Alarm allows the user to set two different wind speed readings at which they would like to be notified, both visually and audibly, when the wind meets the set-points. These instruments also contain two internal SPDT relays, which allow the operator to open or close the circuit leading to an external appliance, based on the selected wind speeds. Both instruments are available with an optional latching switch to save attached equipment from cycling on/off repeatedly as set points are met.

Wind Speed Alarms are used in many commercial applications including cranes (mobile, gantry and stationary), amusement parks, fountain controls, entertainment (special effects), outdoor signage, home automation and agricultural monitoring.
These instruments utilize non micro-processor circuits to minimize the occurrence of latch-up and all circuitry is housed in a NEMA Type 4X weather-tight polycarbonate case (see downloadable specifications sheet at bottom of this page). The Hall Effect sensor used to capture wind speed has been used by Maximum in commercial applications for more than 20 years, and has proven to be both reliable and durable over that period. A shielded cable is used between the sensor and the indicator as it offers better surge and interference suppression compared to non-shielded cable.
All Wind Speed Alarms are pre-wired during production and tested for accuracy/effectiveness before being packaged for shipping. We recommend a bench-test of the pre-wired instrument prior to installation to ensure that all is in working order. Proper installation of this instrument is the only way it will operate. If not installed properly, it will not function at all. This ensures that only properly installed instruments are being used. Polarity of the power supply cables does matter. Installation is basic, including utilization of the internal relays.
Operation requires the user to set the thumb-wheel switches on the face of the instrument to the speeds at which you would like to be notified. When the wind speed meets or exceeds the setting on each thumb-wheel switch, a visual and audible (second switch only) will notify the operator that wind speeds have met the set-point on the instrument. A clear plastic, screw-on cover on the face of instrument prevents the thumbwheel switches from being inadvertently adjusted.
